On Tuesday December 3, 2019, Durham Community Foundation (DCF) kickstarted a year long celebration of 25 years of giving back to the Region of Durham at its annual community breakfast.
We are grateful for the support of our presenting sponsor Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility, our community champions Bell, Durham College, OPG, SMS (Smillie McAdams Summerlin Ltd), and the Alger and Lafarga families for making this breakfast possible.
We appreciated the formal recognition of our legacy builders by our local community leaders including Mayor Mitchell (Whitby), Councilor Rob Tyler Morin (Ajax), Councilor Tito-Dante Marimpietri (Oshawa), along with the support of Mayor Foster (Clarington) and Deputy Mayor Kevin Ashe (Pickering).
According to Vivian Curl, Executive Director at Durham Community Foundation, "Our annual breakfast was timed perfectly, taking place on Giving Tuesday this year. We wanted to take the time to thank the many families, businesses and individuals who have established permanent endowment funds at the Foundation. Their legacy gifts have enabled the Foundation to grant $2 Million to more than 100 local charities since inception" adding that “philanthropy is the heart and soul of our community and our legacy builders not only inspire us, but also ensure a strong and vibrant future for many, many generations to come.”
